Sony BMG Music Entertainment is the effect of the 50/50 joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment (part of Sony) and BMG Entertainment (part of Bertelsmann) completed on August 5, 2004. These are one of a Big Four music companies, & includes ownership and distribution of recording labels such as Arista Records, Columbia Records, Epic Records, J Records, RCA Victor, RCA Records, and others. Securities analyst covering a merger anticipated that as much as 2000 jobs can be cut following, saving Sony BMG close to $350 million annually.
